Markovic through the years

1815

With the creation of the Serbian principality and the end of occupation of the Ottoman Empire, the Markovic family started to produce and market wines and fruit brandies with their properties in Sumadija. The elementary school where some of the Markovic Family still lives is named after Sima Markovic.

1941

The Markovic Family ran a successful business until the beginning of WWII in 1941 where some of the darkest times hit with expropriations of land and complete destruction of vineyards and orchards due to the communist regime.

1989

With the end of communism and start of free enterprise in Serbia, families started rebuilding Serbian orchards (plums, pears, quince, apricots, cherries, raspberries). The Markovic Family frequently visited Serbia to visit extended family members and with the rebuilding of orchards, this sparked the vision to start making brandies again out of hand picked fruits.

2000

The Markovic Estates brand was formed as we know it today with Ivan and Nadia bringing their vision to life by bringing their wines and spirits into the U.S. (include all products offered along the way (the different wines and liquors)

today

The family's legacy lives on through the brand and through the distinct craft and quality put into every bottle. It is still fully family run and operated with Ivan and Nadia at the forefront of it.

1949

The family moved to France in 1949 and started their own vineyard in Beziers in the south of France.
